Riverside County DA steps in to argue for California's death penalty

District Attorney Michael A. Hestrin filed a supplemental briefing after Attorney General Rob Bonta agreed with the State Public Defender that the California Supreme Court should consider the constitutionality of the death penalty.

In a case that challenges the constitutionality of California's death penalty system, Riverside County District Attorney Michael A. Hestrin this week argued a state Supreme Court petition led by the Office of the State Public Defender lacked standing and failed to allege sufficient facts to establish a violation under the California Constitution.
