THE STATE BAR OF CALIFORNIA The State Bar's Executive Director is appointed by and is directly accountable to the Board of Trustees. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that the organization fulfills its mission and operationalizes the specific goals of the current strategic plan in accordance with statutory requirements, Board policy and direction. Ideally, candidates for this position will possess comparable executive management and leadership experience gained working for a public corporation, large government regulatory agency/department, judicial enterprise or local government. The State Bar seeks candidates with outstanding organizational management, people leadership and relationship building skills, familiarity with the legal profession and a commitment to organization's mission. Ideally candidates will possess a juris doctorate and/or a master's degree in business or public administration with significant experience leading both administrative and operational functions. Candidates must possess outstanding interpersonal and team building skills and have a minimum of ten years of senior-level management responsibility including experience working with a board. The State Bar of California is prepared to offer the selected candidate a contract that includes a salary and benefits package that is competitive with similar organizations.
