Oil company challenges LA County zoning change

The complaint filed Friday by Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP for Aera Energy alleges that the County Board of Supervisors "misused its planning process to engage in a secretive, eleventh-hour deal" that led to the unconstitutional taking of private property without just compensation."

The owners of an oil well in the San Gabriel Valley allege that Los Angeles County is attempting to surreptitiously downzone its property to increase housing and commercial development, the latest salvo in a growing battle pitting oil companies against legislators.
