EL SEGUNDO — Julie Rubash has tried reporting. A graduate of Arizona State University’s journalism school, she worked a beat, looking for stories in her college classes. She said her brain just didn’t work that way, but when she took a media law class, everything clicked into place.

“It came so easily to me, analyzing these cases,” Rubash said. “It was fascinating to me, but it was also something that was just innate.”
