UC Irvine School of Law has created the Myron and Sonya Glassberg Chair in Environmental Law with support from the Mysun Charitable Foundation. The endowed chair will support the school's Environmental Law Clinic and be held by its director, Clinical Professor Michael Robinson-Dorn. A formal celebration is scheduled for Sept. 24.
The chair honors the Glassbergs, longtime conservationists who helped preserve Missouri's Meramec River and founded the Mysun Charitable Foundation in 1969. The foundation has previously supported UC Irvine's clinic through a fellowship program.
Adam Glassberg, a trustee of the foundation, said the gift continues the Glassbergs' legacy by supporting "the important and impactful work" of the clinic and its students. Dean Austen Parrish called the chair "a lasting tribute to their commitment to conservation and environmental stewardship."
Robinson-Dorn said he was humbled by the appointment and that the chair will help the clinic train "the next generation of environmental advocates and leaders." The school said the endowment will provide ongoing support for the clinic's teaching, research, and service activities.
