After serving almost 14 years on the bench for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Southern Di-vision, Judge Guilford is available through Judicate West as a mediator, arbitrator and private judge, including special master assignments, and case evaluator.

Judge Guilford has earned a reputation for his compassionate, intellectual, fair, intuitive and hardworking demeanor.

His vast litigation and judicial experience, across a wide array of commercial matters, allows Judge Guilford to rapidly and effectively tackle any legal dispute.

His judicial experience includes presiding over 100 trials, both bench and jury, on matters including patent, trademark, copyright, defective products, securities, employment, civil rights, professional liability, criminal, class actions, and multi-district litigation.

During his 31 years as a trial lawyer and partner at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, he tried complex commercial cases involving matters in numerous sectors, including major league sports, medical devices, banking and finance, real property, telecommunications, and entertainment.

His expertise was recognized with numerous honors and awards, including: Fellow, American College of Trial Lawyers; Daily Journal "Top 100 Attorneys"; "Top 50 Best Lawyers in Orange County"; "Best Lawyers in America"; "Southern California Super Lawyer"; and OC Trial Lawyers Association "Business Litigation Trial Lawyer of the Year."

Judge Guilford was selected by the Orange County Bar Association to receive the Franklin G. West Award--the organization's highest honor, presented to outstanding attorneys and judges whose lifetime achievements have advanced justice and law.

Other awards included: Orange County Asian American Bar Association "Judicial Excellence Award"; Hispanic Bar Association "Judge of the Year"; and Orange County Intellectual Property Law Association "Distinguished Judge Award."

His dedication to the profession and community has spanned four decades and countless hours lecturing and authoring for law schools, religious entities, legal publications, bar associations, and judicial organizations, both nationally and internationally.
