Three strikes ballot initiative passes assembly

The state assembly voted Tuesday to put a ballot measure before the people that would alter California's oft-maligned "three strikes" sentencing guidelines.

The state assembly voted Tuesday to put a ballot measure before the people that would alter California's oft-maligned "three strikes" sentencing guidelines.

In a strictly partisan vote, AB 327 passed 41-33 with only Democratic support. The legislation still has numerous obstacles to navigate before becoming law. To be approved, it must pass a vote in the state senate and then be ratified by voters in the November 2014 general...
