Alcatel-Lucent, Microsoft reach settlement

Alcatel-Lucent S.A. has quietly settled its hotly-contested and legally significant patent infringement lawsuit against Microsoft Corp. over a patented feature included in its Outlook program.

Alcatel-Lucent S.A. has quietly settled its hotly-contested and legally significant patent infringement lawsuit against Microsoft Corp. over a patented feature included in its Outlook program.

A jury originally awarded $358 million in damages, but the case was remanded to the Southern District of California by an appeals court that decided the amount was too high because the patented feature was a minor one. A second jury...
