Shipping company settles false claims case for $31.9 million

Maersk Line Ltd., the American subsidiary of the world's largest shipping container company, has agreed to pay the U.S. government $31.9 million to resolve allegations it overcharged for transporting cargo to U.S. troops abroad.

SAN FRANCISCO - Maersk Line Ltd., the American subsidiary of the world's largest shipping container company, has agreed to pay the U.S. government $31.9 million to resolve allegations it overcharged the Department of Defense for transporting cargo to U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
