Unselfish Ways May Have Cost DA His Life

BAKERSFIELD - Stephen M. Tauzer's generosity may have cost him his life, authorities say. When the Kern County assistant district attorney wasn't working 60-hour weeks advising prosecutors and trying cases, the veteran Kern County prosecutor was a friend and surrogate family member to people who were down and out or just needed someone to lean on.
