Defections, Layoffs Create Reservoir of Resentment and Suspicion

The turmoil of partner defections and associate layoffs that repeatedly has wracked several big West Coast-based firms over the last year apparently has created a well-publicized reservoir of resentment, suspicion, distrust and enmity. Hard feelings seem particularly ingrained among younger lawyers, who may view some big firms as soulless, even bloodthirsty.
