State justices wade into undocumented immigrant debate with attorney admission order

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned why the State Bar thinks an undocumented immigrant should be admitted to practice.

The state Supreme Court on Wednesday questioned why the State Bar thinks an undocumented immigrant should be admitted to practice.

Bar examiners certified Sergio C. Garcia's name to the high court for admission, noting that he has graduated from an unspecified California law school, has passed the state bar exam and has passed the bar's moral character review. The State Bar also disclosed Garcia's immigration status.
