Racial-Bias Suit Against Amtrak Nets Man $500,000

After a long trip through the courts, one man's racial-harassment lawsuit against Amtrak finally may have ended. A federal jury in San Francisco in May awarded $500,000 to Abner Morgan Jr., a worker at Amtrak's Oakland maintenance yard, who alleged managers there taunted him with racial slurs, passed him over for promotions and training opportunities and subjected him to unfair discipline based on his race. Morgan is African-American.
