Americans strive toward a system of justice where all people are treated equally and where laws do not single out groups for different treatment. On Wednesday, the state Senate will vote on legislation that could eliminate a major offense to this American ideal. Senate Bill 1010, authored by Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), would remove the groundless disparity in state penalties for cocaine offences.
