Thanks for Brian Kabateck's thoughtful guest column on the pros but mostly cons of "speedy jury selection." ("California Needs Voir Dire Reform," July 5). He raises important issues - indeed, jury selection is a (or maybe the) critical event of a civil trial. Of course voir dire need consume only as much time as is necessary for it to be effective - and it is on that point that judges and trial counsel of good wil...
