Brown vetos bills to let immigrants sit on juries

The move comes on the heels of his granting undocumented immigrants a number of unprecedented privileges

Despite approving bills allowing immigrants living in the state illegally to get drivers licenses and practice law, Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday vetoed AB 1401 by the Assembly Judiciary Committee, which would have allowed legal noncitizens to serve on juries.


Brown argued in his veto message that jury duty is a "prerogative of citizenship."
