Lobby hopes law reducing municipal lawsuit payouts helps businesses

A law to reduce the interest public entities pay on lawsuits over taxes and fees was heralded by the Civil Justice Association of California as ammunition for giving businesses the same break.

SACRAMENTO - Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a bill to save cities and other government entities money in lawsuits last week, and business interests hope it will lead to similar legislation on private suits.
