Riverside Judge's Absences Lead to Probe

In one of the most backlogged trial courts in California, Riverside County Judge Christopher J. Sheldon made a habit of leaving work early, often before noon, according to the state’s judicial watchdog group. In charges filed this week, the Commission on Judicial Performance accused the Indio dependency judge of shirking his duties with frequent unexcused afternoon absences.
