Officers Can Ask What Pets Probationers Keep, Court Says

SAN FRANCISCO - Whether it's a goldfish or a vicious dog, law enforcement has the right to know what kinds of pets probationers are keeping, the California Supreme Court ruled Monday.

Judges in San Bernardino County had been ordering defendants on probation to notify their probation officers about any pet ownership.
