Consumer Arbitration Clauses Get Second Look

Recent years have not been kind to consumer arbitration agreements. And efforts to change the way they are used is coming from several quarters.

LOS ANGELES - Recent years have not been kind to consumer arbitration agreements.

Those agreements, which govern disputes between consumers and banks, phone companies, car dealers, computer manufacturers and others, often are called "ubiquitous" for their frequent appearance in consumer contracts. But they are not universally loved.
