Indian-Gaming Proposition Isn't the Answer to the State's Fiscal Problems

Forum Column - By Cheryl Schmit - There is a very small but very wealthy and vocal minority of California Indian tribes that want voters to believe that Proposition 70 is the answer to the state's fiscal problems. Not surprisingly, their idea for this "solution" is to let the state's gaming tribes operate as many casinos as they want, while paying the state as little as they possibly can. Proposition 70's wealthy sponsors claim that it requires tribes to pay their "fair share" to the state.
