Davis Plays Politics by Dismissing Chief Counsel

On July 15, Gov. Gray Davis had California's top employment legal enforcement lawyer removed from his post for issuing a well-grounded opinion letter interpreting a January 2000 law that restored mandatory overtime for people working more than eight hours a day. Davis' actions are purely political and result in a gross unfairness to California's workers.
