Court Lets Firms Settle, Then Bill Insured

SAN FRANCISCO - A little-noticed California Supreme Court decision has alarmed consumer advocates concerned that insurance companies will now be able to settle cases without the policyholder's consent and then seek reimbursement on the grounds the claim was not covered by the policy.
