Term Exposes Court's Ideological Fault Lines

WASHINGTON - In the Supreme Court's 2000-2001 term, the justices' 5-4 decision in Bush v. Gore was not an anomaly. Nearly 33 percent of the justices' 77 signed opinions this term were decided by that vote - the highest percentage of 5-4 decisions in more than a decade.
