Hospitals Can't Make Claims Against Patient Awards

In a decision that could affect hundreds of lawsuits across California, the state Supreme Court recently ruled that hospitals can only receive preferred provider organization-plan payments they had contracted for, with no claim to outside judgment received by their patients. William K. Hanagami, lead attorney for plaintiff Joel Parnell, says the suit stands to settle an issue he has watched with interest for a decade.
