Like Everyone Else, Jews' Feelings About Death Penalty Vary

Forum Column - By Michael M. Rosen - "No Jewish person can sit on a death penalty jury and vote for death." Thus spake an Alameda County Superior Court judge in 1987, according to a former prosecutor who alleges that he and the judge colluded to exclude Jews from a capital murder jury panel. The controversy has illuminated interesting questions about jury selection and the attitudes of Jews - and Californians - about the death penalty.
