SAN DIEGO - The National Institutes of Health awarded a total of $178 million in grants to two research centers, according to the Associated Press.
The Burnham Institute of Medical Research received a $98 million grant, said to be the largest the center has received. The grant will be used to uncover cells or molecules in the body that play a significant role in disease. The grant provides the center with funds to hire 30 new staffers.
