El Paso Tentatively Settles With State, Offers Free Gas

LOS ANGELES - El Paso Corp., the nation's biggest natural gas pipeline company, tentatively agreed to a $1.7 billion settlement of antitrust lawsuits claiming the firm conspired to illegally drive up gas prices during the 2000-01 energy crisis, according to an attorney in the case.
