Honoring The Judges
Approximately 80 judges from all over California assembled at the F.A.M.E. Conference and Expo Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 17 for The California Association of Black Lawyers’ annual dinner meeting of African American Federal and State Judicial Officers. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael D. Carter hosted the event, taking pains to ensure that a picture was taken to memorialize the historic event. In recognition of her career, Audrey B. Collins, chief judge of the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, was honored with the Black Gavel Award for her achievements both on and off the bench. Judge Sharon Majors-Lewis was recognized for her work to diversify the bench as the Judicial Appointment Secretary for the former governor.
