Trujillo Lawyer of the Year

The South East District Bar Association honored Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Mario Trujillo as the Attorney of the Year during their annual gala at the Rio Hondo Events Center on Jan. 29. Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley presented the award, a scene that may foreshadow the passing of the torch as Trujillo considers a run for the DA position in 2012. Trujillo is past president of the Mexican American Bar Association, and part of the transition team for Los Angeles City Attorney Carmen Trutanich. Currently, he is the Deputy in Charge of the Bellflower office. Also recognized at the ceremony were Judge Thomas I. McKnew of the as Judge of the Year, and Judge Peter Espinoza for Lifetime Achievement, both of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
