Awards for Advocates

The John M. Langston Bar Association celebrated the installation of its new president, Gilda Clift Breland of McBirney & Chuck PC, at a gala on Jan. 29 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles. Along with awarding scholarships to law students, the Association honored individuals with awards reflecting the event’s theme, “Advocating for Citizens of the World.” Teresa Clarke, chairman and CEO of Africa.com received the Global Leadership Award, Gene Hale, president and general counsel for Equipment Corp. wan named International Business Leader of the Year, Nikki Shaw, owner of and chef for Flavor Caterer was named World Entrepeneur of the Year, Michael-Bryant Hicks, associate general counsel at Beckman Coulter, Inc. won the Global Achievement in Law Award, and Audrea J. Golding of Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP was named Lawyer of the Year.
