Brown vetoes bill to punish unauthorized practice of law

AB 888 would have expanded the State Bar's authority to regulate those practicing law illegally.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday vetoed AB 888 by Assemblyman Roger Dickinson, D-Sacramento, which would have given the State Bar of California the authority to collect financial penalties and fees from people sued by the bar for practicing law illegally.
