Justices Will Weigh Suits for Costs of Voluntary Cleanups

Three years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court left open the question of whether a party involved in a voluntary cleanup of toxically contaminated land could sue others under a specific provision of the federal Superfund law. The justices will tackle that question in oral argument today in a case closely watched by the environmental bar.
