Restore State Judges' Sentencing Discretion
Letter to the Editor - In his March 27 column ("Sentencing Bill Would Worsen State's Prison Crisis"), San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi offered several criticisms of Senate Bill 40, which will restore the sentencing discretion formerly enjoyed (unconstitutionally, in retrospect) by the state's judges.
