WASHINGTON - What started as a dispute over $30 on a phone bill has evolved into a potential blockbuster case that could dramatically reduce either class action lawsuits or arbitrations for consumer and employment claims.
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments today to consider if clauses in arbitration contracts that prohibit participation in class actions are legally enforceable.
