In Heated Battle, Ulmer Emerges As Victor

SAN FRANCISCO - Judges around the state were breathing sighs of relief this week after Judge Richard Ulmer held onto his seat Tuesday, besting opponent Michael Nava. The bruising race aroused worries that similar challenges to sitting judges could politicize the judiciary.
