Cloudy Controversy

The bad, though not surprising, news from the Supreme Court last month is that the justices, in an opinion written by Justice Clarence Thomas, perverted federal law to perpetuate the federal government's failed War on Drugs. The court ruled, in U.S. v. Oakland Cannabis Buyers' Cooperative, that the federal Controlled Substances Act prohibits the cultivation or distribution of medical-grade marijuana, even for patients whose life-threatening medical conditions can be alleviated only by marijuana.
