Vioxx Scare Is Symptom of Firms' Narrow Focus on Blockbusters

Ching - Recent news about pharmaceutical firm Merck included a report that the company introduced a corporate poison pill by automatically granting bonuses to 140 of its managers if the company gets acquired. This comes on the heels of the Vioxx scare, which caused Merck's stock to drop 40 percent in one day.
