Sacramento to pay men snagged in drug sting

Sacramento County officials have agreed to pay a $400,000 settlement to end two men's civil rights lawsuit alleging sheriff's deputies falsely arrested and imprisoned them, as well as failed to disclose exculpatory evidence.

SACRAMENTO - Days before two men were to stand trial in 2009 for their alleged roles in a major drug ring, federal prosecutors dropped all charges amid claims the pair was falsely arrested in a botched sting operation.

Now Sacramento County officials have agreed to pay a $400,000 settlement to end the two men's civil rights lawsuit.
