A new piece of proposed legislation would not only speed the approval process for multifamily housing projects but it could also neuter NIMBY sentiments.

The bill, SB619, was introduced by State Sen. Denise Ducheny, D-San Diego, to put limits on local governments' ability to require conditional use permits for higher-density housing plans, given the project meets all other building and environmental standards.
