IPO Report Backs Reforms to Boost Confidence of Investors

Klein Three hundred public companies, their insurers and investors recently agreed to settle a class action stemming from the selling practices of certain investment banks in marketing initial public offerings. The investors' complaint alleged a vast scheme to defraud the investing public through illegal arrangements that artificially inflated the market prices of the securities sold in these IPOs. The tentative settlement is $1 billion.
