'Up the Ladder'

In Closing Column Corporate Law By Dana Welch and Chad Perry On Aug. 5, the Securities and Exchange Commission "up-the-ladder" reporting rules on attorney conduct go into effect. In-house legal departments at public companies and their wholly owned subsidiaries and many outside lawyers will be subject to these obligations, which require that lawyers report possible securities law violations or other wrongdoing up the chain of command.
