Grants, Debt Relief Programs Ease Path Into Public Interest

LOS ANGELES - Law graduates with a fire in the belly to help the poor, for whom the American dream is a distant fantasy, will have a much tougher go of it than did public interest attorneys a generation ahead of them, according to pioneers in that field. But with grants, donations and debt relief programs, new lawyers who are not trust fund babies can still pursue their noble goals.
