Predatory Lending Hurts Poor

Forum Column - By Joy A. Simmons - In low income and minority neighborhoods, particularly South Central and East Los Angeles, the insidious practice of predatory lending occurs on a daily basis. The prevalence of predatory lending in these communities threatens the economic stability of its victims, many of whom are retirees or able-bodied members of a household pooling their monies to pay their mortgages.
