State High Court Supports Victims of Abuse by Police
The California Supreme Court's April 5 decision, Venegas v. County of Los Angeles, 2004 DJDAR 4123, is good for victims of police abuse and promotes justice. Victims of official misconduct must have simple, clear and meaningful remedies. Otherwise, rights are ignored, wrongdoing remains undeterred and overreaching government is left unaccountable. In short, liberty is diminished.
