Game developer wins trial against Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts Inc. used source code derived from developer Robin Antonick in a handful of its successful John Madden Football video game series without justly compensating him, a San Francisco jury decided Tuesday.

Electronic Arts Inc. used source code derived from developer Robin Antonick to make sports plays and formations in a handful of its successful John Madden Football video game series without justly compensating him, a San Francisco jury decided Tuesday afternoon.

Antonick will receive back royalties of nearly $3.6 million from the San Mateo-based company, and potentially $11.6 million if prejudgment interest is added.
