As counsel to public employee unions that are negotiating recession-era contracts, Platten's practice is "busy, complicated and exciting," he said.
While some public agencies are seeing increasing tax revenues that bolster their budgets, the negotiating process remains fraught, Platten said. "We see more tough negotiations as the economy recovers in spurts and at different levels," he said.
