Employees Subject to Anti-Hacking Law

A federal law designed to combat computer hacking can be used against people who steal company trade secrets, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday.

A federal law designed to combat computer hacking can be used against people who steal company trade secrets, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday.


But a dissenting judge warned that the ruling also makes criminals out of millions of people who use their work computers to check their personal email or watch sporting events in violation of company policy.
