SEC and Ex-Countrywide Execs Reach Settlement

Countrywide Financial co-founder Angelo Mozilo could end up paying less than one-third of the massive $67.5 million settlement he reached with the SEC. Left footing the rest of bill is Bank of America.

LOS ANGELES - Countrywide Financial co-founder Angelo Mozilo agreed to the largest penalty ever paid by a senior executive of a publicly traded company in his $67.5 million settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, yet according to the terms of the deal, Mozilo could end up paying less than one-third of that amount.
