High Court Won't Hear Voting Case
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday refused to consider the city of Modesto's challenge to the California Voting Rights Act, leaving in place a preliminary state court victory for Hispanic voters who argued that, because of racially polarized voting, the at-large system for electing the Modesto City Council diluted Hispanic voting power.
